Motorola ROKR E8 is a GSM/GPRS phone with 2 megapixel camera, 262K color QVGA display, 2 GB of internal memory and microSD memory card slot, FM radio and 3.5 mm headphone jack.
MOTOROKR E8 does really exist and comes with that interesting back lit touch keyboard and a novel navigation device called “Omega Wheel” for music and menu navigation. And, so that the touch wouldn’t confuse you, E8 ROKR is equipped with a haptics controls, that makes the phone give you vibration feedback, whenever a key is pressed.
Motorola music phone is part of the ROKR series and under the model E8 but brings its own unique design which makes it stand out of the crowd. When looked by the side it resembles the Q9h by the slim profile but the front side is something totally new thanks to the strange keyboard. Instead of actual keys it has just “buds” over the flat surface and the characters must be illuminated to show. The even stranger fact is shown in the dark images – in standby mode there are the standard navigation keys and the numeric buttons but when the multimedia player is opened they hide and music-dedicated shortcuts are illuminated to attract the attention.
When the user dials numbers on this Motorola phone, all the keys will light up. But when the user is listening to music, the number keys will be dimmed and the music controls will brighten up. In standby mode there are standard navigation keys and numeric buttons with backlight off.
The other features of the Motorola’s ROKR E8 are:
In-built 2GB memory, with an option to increase the same, thanks to microSD slot
3.5mm headphone jack
Micro USB to sideload the music
2MP camera
Linux-based MOTOMAGX interface
Stereo Bluetooth audio
The earliest that we get to see it is by around 2007-end or perhaps the beginning of 2008. Let’s hope more official announcement for the ROKR E8 mobile phone are made soon from Motorola’s headquarters.
